History The Forest City Thunderbirds Football Club has operated as an independent not-for-profit organization since its incorporation in 2000. The club is based in London Ontario, the Forest City, and draws players from the Thames Valley District School Board, and the London District Catholic School Board, which includes the City of London as well as Middlesex, Oxford, and Elgin Counties. The club is a member of the Central Ontario Minor Football League. COMFL is a multi divisional League, which has been in existence for many years. The Thunderbirds compete in the Collegiate Division. The Forest City Thunderbirds provide amateur summer varsity football for young men 16 to 20 years of age. We have posted an impressive tradition of excellence in our first six years of operation. The Thunderbirds were the Provincial Champions of the Great Lakes Football League in their inaugural season in 2000, Championship Finalists in 2001, and GLFL Champions once again in 2002. The Thunderbirds were C.O.M.F.L. quarter finalists in 2003 and 2004, and C.O.M.F.L. Collegiate Championship Finalists in 2005. Participation in amateur sport has always been viewed as an excellent way for the youth of today to become the leaders of tomorrow. The values of good sportsmanship, determination, and hard work that are instilled in our players will only help our community to grow. With the support of the players' parents, family, friends, and our community sponsors, the Thunderbirds will continue to provide a program of excellence for young athletes who enjoy the experience of high level competition. |
